1841 $1 MS63 NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. The 1841 dollar is well-known as a condition rarity. In MS63, NGC has only certified four other pieces, with six finer (8/13). The originality of this piece is compelling. The centers are light rose surrounded at the margins by a thin ring of light blue. Many Seated dollars from the 1840s and 1850s show semi-prooflikeness in the fields. It is especially noticeable on this piece, and the reverse is arguably a full Prooflike. The brightness in the fields enhances and enlivens the patina. Strike details are strong in the centers, but the obverse periphery is slightly soft on the head of Liberty and the stars. There are no obvious or singularly detracting abrasions on either side. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a.
