1862 $1 XF45 NGC. CAC. A low mintage of 11,540 coins partially explains the scarcity of the 1862 Seated dollar. Another reason they are difficult to locate is silver dollars were worth $1.04 in terms of gold in 1862. This is a richly toned coin that at first glance appears much finer than the stated grade. Streaks and swirls of deep gray, purple, and blue colors are seen on each side. Light, even wear is noted over the high-points on both the figure of Liberty and the eagle. Ex: Eric P.
