||1883 G$1 MS67+ NGC. CAC. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. A typical late-series Philadelphia issue, the 1883 was produced in limited quantity (only 10,800 coins), but was amply saved by dealers and speculators to the point of being moderately available today in high grades. As a result, this issue is often selected for type purposes. This lustrous Superb Gem shows intermingled hues of apricot and green-gold luster, while the devices are sharp and the surfaces are virtually perfect. Although the border dentils are not fully defined, most notably on the reverse, this is typical for the issue, and does not impact the visual appeal. NGC has certified 11 numerically finer representatives (8/14). Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate; Partnership of Eric P. Newman / B.G. Johnson d.b.a. St. Louis Stamp & Coin Co.; Eric P. Newman @ $8.50; Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
