1873 1C Open 3 MS61 Brown NGC. With a mintage in excess of 11.5 million coins, the 1873 is one of the more available Indian cent issues from the 1870s, though it is hardly plentiful in Mint State condition. This is a lovely example of the slightly more available Open 3 variant, with an impressive, full strike and rich burgundy-brown and auburn patina. A small tick near Liberty's ear contributes to the grade. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
