1788 COPPER Vermont Copper, Mailed Bust Right VF25 NGC. RR-16, Bressett 15-S, W-2120, R.1. The RR-16 copper and the RR-13 Britannia piece are tied for the most plentiful of all Vermont varieties. For unknown reasons, the Ryder-16 has the nicest color and surface quality in the series, making it the perfect Vermont type coin. The central obverse device was cut deeply into the die, and usually lacks detail on the highest points, at the same time robbing the reverse of detail. A trivial planchet flaw is evident on the obverse at 11:30, and another appears on the reverse below the date. This piece has splendid olive and light chocolate surfaces without imperfections.
