1787 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Draped Bust Left AU53 NGC. M. 33.3-W.1, W-3400, High R.4. 132.7 grains. The obverse and reverse dies are unique to this combination. A small rectangular planchet defect appears at the lower obverse on this otherwise exceptional example. The pleasing olive-brown surfaces retain traces of bluish-steel luster with few surface marks, save for a small rim bruise left of the obverse planchet flaw. The central motifs retain original planchet marks, especially evident on the weakly impressed reverse. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
