1787 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Draped Bust Left MS63 Brown NGC. M. 33.6-KK, W-3425, R.2. 151.2 grains. A second example of the plentiful 33.6-KK die marriage, but in this appearance the quality is remarkable. The strike is above-average and nicely centered, with a nearly complete circle of narrow border detail on the obverse. Partial dentilation is also noted on the reverse. The central design motifs are a trifle weak, especially on the reverse: a common occurrence for the variety. Both sides exhibit frosty chocolate-brown surfaces with obvious original red mint color remaining on the obverse. This example is slightly finer than the Garrett AU, and far outshines the VF in the Ford Collection. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
