1788 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Mailed Bust Right GEORGIVS III VF25 NGC. M. 101-D, Vlack 13-88CT, R.5. 118.8 grains. Four examples of this variety from the Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society represent different die states, and these coins were struck before, during, and after the production of the preceding five lots. Appearing later in this offering are two examples of Miller 16.1-D that were struck between early and late states of this variety and of Miller 2-D. The reverse of this example has no crumbling at the I in LIB, and no die crack from the lower curve of the B in that word. The granular surfaces combine dark maroon and blue-steel with golden-tan on the devices. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
