Description 1788 COPPER Connecticut Copper, Draped Bust Left VF35 NGC. M. 16.1-D, W-4595, R.3. 123.5 grains. This remarkable olive-brown example has a few splashes of maroon patina on each side. The surfaces are smooth with no planchet flaws or post-production blemishes, aside from typical handling marks. An exceptional late die state example with the crumbling and die crack at LIB, also showing a heavy break covering most of the E in ET, and an even larger break at the lower left reverse, appearing much like a cast on Liberty's broken left leg. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society. Realized $646.25. Description courtesy of Heritage Auctions.
