1788 COPPER New Jersey Copper, Horse's Head Left VF Details, Environmental Damage NGC. M. 51-g, W-5480, Low R.6. 132.7 grains. This die marriage is the rarest of the three head left varieties, and the key to a set of that type. A minute planchet clip is noted at 5:30, although it is insufficient to classify this piece as a mint error. The surfaces are imperfect with corrosion and red oxidation, showing some pitting on each side.
