1787 1C Massachusetts Cent VF30 NGC. R. 3-G, W-6090, R.3. The Ryder 2b-A Horned Eagle, and this 3-G combination are the only two 1787 Massachusetts cent varieties that are common. The Eric P. Newman Collection includes three examples of Ryder 3-G in the present sale. These three coins are each ideal examples for colonial type collections. This piece has moderate wear with lightly granular golden-brown and blue-steel surfaces with traces of maroon patina on the reverse. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
