1739 Admiral Vernon Medal, Porto Bello, -- Environmental Damage -- NGC Details. VF. Betts-189, Adams PBv 12-J, R.5. Vernon's finger points between D and M and is touching the legend line on this variety. Rounded double rims and a flat edge are among the characteristics this well-designed piece displays. Scattered areas of corrosion are present, most notably near 1 o'clock on the reverse, but they are minimally distracting. Several rim dents also appear. The piece exhibits deep chocolate-brown color overall, with a minor amount of verdigris visible, primarily at the lower right reverse. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society.
