Date March 1, 1770
Country United States
Denomination $1
Description Maryland March 1, 1770 $1/9 Fr. MD-49. PCGS Very Fine 30. This is an attractive note from a series of Maryland notes from which high-grade examples are nearly impossible to locate. The back is interesting, with the imprint ANNE CATHARINE and W. GREEN using her full first name instead of an initial. Anne Catherine was the widow of Jonas Green, and hers is one of the few female imprints known on American paper currency. The fractional denominations from the series are particularly rare in high grades. This example is bright and problem-free, a state which is not often encountered. Ex: Eric P.
