Massachusetts October 18, 1776 6 Pence Fr. MA-225. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. The Paul Revere-engraved face plate was first used on this issue. There are two dates and back styles for the "Codfish" bills. The 1776 notes with the John Gill backs are much scarcer than the later 1778 notes, especially so in high grades. This circulated note faces up nicely, but noted are "Splits, Tears, and Repairs" that are seen from the back. Ex: Eric P.
