New York Water Works August 25, 1774 4 Shillings Fr. NY-170. PCGS Extremely Fine 45. This is an interesting municipal issue and the first American city paper money. The cuts were engraved by Elisha Gallaudet, and the notes were printed by Hugh Gaine. Its interesting design, with a water pump on the back and color face printing, has made the series popular with collectors. With sharp color and the bold signatures of Lefferts and Cruger.
