New York Water Works August 2, 1775 2 Shillings Fr. NY-173. PCGS Very Choice New 64 Apparent. The lowest collectible denomination from this four-note series printed by Hugh Gaine using the cuts engraved by Elisha Gallaudet. The 1 shilling notes were not issued, and the Newman Collection had an exceedingly rare proof representative of this type (Newman part VII: 18143, October 2015). Very bold and wide-margined for the type. Noted with "Minor Mounting Remnants on Back in Corners." These are pinpoint and are overwhelmed by the beautifully printed back design. Ex: Eric P.
