Pennsylvania March 20, 1771 20 Shillings Contemporary Counterfeit Fr. PA-149. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. The Newman Collection contains the most comprehensive array of Colonial contemporary counterfeits we have studied and cataloged. This is another fascinating example and rarely encountered, much less often than the genuine. This plate A note has a false signature of Francis Hopkinson, Declaration signer, at the bottom. The face diagnostic is that the upright in the large "T" of "This" is to the right of the "h" in "Shillings" below it, instead of to the left as on genuine bills.
