South Carolina March 6, 1776 50 Pounds Fr. SC-127. PCGS Very Fine 35 Apparent. The four highest denominations from this series are in a larger format and use emblems and mottos. Like the June 1, 1775, 20 pounds in this sale, the 50 pounds also has an intricately printed back embellished with flourishes. At the lower right on the face is an emblem showing trophies and the motto ANIMAS OPIBUSQUE PARATI (Prepared in spirit and resources). The intricately designed back has the motto DEUS PUGNAVIT ET DISSIPANTUR (God has fought and the opposition was dispersed). Noted with "Small Edge Splits and Tears; Minor Stains." With strong printing and broad margins. This is one of the most appealing examples we have seen. Strictly unimpaired examples are nearly impossible to obtain. Ex: Eric P.
