Virginia March 1, 1781 $1000 Thick Paper Contemporary Counterfeit. Fr. VA-209b. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. This is the highest denomination from the series and a rarely encountered contemporary counterfeit. The specific diagnostics are obvious with a reversed "s" in THOUSAND at the left end and a large, high "U" in THOUSAND in the top line of the text. This is the Newman plate note, illustrated on page 473 in the appendix of the fifth edition. Noted with a "Missing LR Corner Tip." Ex: Eric P.
