United States of America - Continental Loan Office in the State of "New Hampshire" Exchange for $24/120 Livres Tournois Fourth Bill, Payable at Paris January 20, 1780 Anderson-Smythe US-96-6A. PCGS About New 53 Apparent. A New Hampshire Livres Tournois certificate in a different denomination from the series. Similar to previous Paris forms. Printed on laid paper, watermarked "United States 4." 21.0 cm by 10.5 cm. The common layout has black typeset titles, obligations, and denominations, with blanks for issuance across. Ornamental bordering is at the right. The indenting design at left and the area along the top, including the denomination and serial block, are printed in red. No. 1063. Issued to John Cushing, and countersigned by Nich. Gilman for New Hampshire. Signed by Declaration of Independence signer Francis Hopkinson as the "Treas'r of Loans," engraved and printed in red. Endorsed over by Cushing with his sweeping vanity signature on the back. These are a bit scarcer, Rarity-4, than other New England Livres Tournois certificates. Noted with "Minor Ink Erosion and Stains." These are some typical faults due to the ink and paper used. However, the Hopkinson signature is magnificent. Ex: Eric P.
