Treasury Office of the State of Connecticut - Act of November 29, 1780 at Hartford 11 Pounds 10 Shillings [Written] February 1, 1781 Anderson-Smythe CT-21. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. This small-size certificate is representative of the broad range of Connecticut fiscal paper issued near the end of the War and into early statehood. This example is printed on laid paper. 19.0 cm by 10.5 cm. Lightly cut-cancelled, signed by Lawrence, and issued to a woman named Rebecca Williams. Interestingly, a summary of the obligation is in concealed lettering within the ornamental bordering, starting at the top with "GIVEN FOR MONEY..." and continuing around the perimeter with the letters separated by ornaments. The back has multiple interest endorsements. Noted as "Cross-Cut Cancelled" and with "Stains." Though the Connecticut fiscal paper series is broad, this is a scarcer type. Ex: Eric P.
