State of Georgia - Certificate "...in payment of any purchases made by__ of confiscated property" at Augusta 59 Pounds 14 Shillings 21 September 1793 Anderson-Smythe GA-2. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. All Georgia fiscal paper is rare, and this certificate is classified as Rarity-8 (1-3 known) in the Anderson-Smythe catalog. A simple, partly printed form on laid paper. 16.5 cm by 10.5 cm. Fully accomplished and dated from Augusta, Georgia. No. 101. Issued to John Smith to be paid from "purchases ... of confiscated property. Signed by the auditor. There are no back endorsements. The act is not specified, and the certificates were issued for several years after the Revolutionary War. The Anderson-Smythe plate note is dated 1785 and has a different auditor's signature. Grading notes "Edge and Internal Splits," but the assigned grade here is conservative. A vibrant example with excellent paper body exhibiting much original text embossing to the blank back.
