Commonwealth of Massachusetts - (Act of February 17, 1781) 6% Treasury Loan One Fourth Installment Certificate 108 Pounds 11 Shillings June 1, 1782 Anderson-Smythe MA-34. PCGS Very Fine 35 Apparent. This certificate is part of late series of loans that were payable in four installments and backed with commodities. This example was voided and not signed by the Treasurer Henry Gardner. Printed on laid paper, with a very small portion of a lettered watermark seen at the top. 18.5 cm by 19.5 cm. Bordered on all sides; wider at left for indenting with COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS repeating twice. Lengthy obligations are across. The 1744 Royal Decree is cited once again near the bottom, despite American independence. An embossed stamp is on the face. Signed by Henshaw for the "Committee," but the denomination near the top is crossed out. The docketed date and serial number are on the back. Noted with "Small Edge Splits at Left." Bold and vibrant, untrimmed and full sized. This scarcer type is underrated. Though not completely issued, high grade and attractive. Ex: Eric P.
