Montgomery, AL - City of Montgomery $1 March 7, 1867 Rosene 232-3. PCGS Fine 12 Apparent. The Rarity-5 rating in Rosene is deceiving. Observation and appearances indicate it is much rarer than that. This Reconstruction issue note features Jackson at top left on an interesting layout. These notes were used for paying dues to the city as well as for freight and passage on the Montgomery & Eufaula Rail Road, as stated on the back. Noted with a "Tape Repaired Edge Tear at Top Center." Solid looking from the face, and with good color. It is superior to the Walter Jones 2001 sale example by far.
