Arkadelphia, AR - Treasurer of the City of Arkadelphia - City Treasurer Note $1 April 16, 1876 Rothert 12-1. PCGS Very Fine 30. The Arkansas Obsolete notes from the Newman Collection provided much insight into the genre for Matt Rothert in his exhaustive study and publication of Arkansas Obsolete Notes and Scrip in 1985 (Society of Paper Money Collectors, Inc.). A number of plate notes and listings in the book are Newman examples. This post-war note is a lovely representative from this scarce issuer and type. Printed on white bond paper. This lithographed municipal note shows the imprint of L. Hoffman & Co., St. Louis. A portrait of Washington is at bottom left in an ornate frame.
