Fayetteville, AR - Bank of Dixie $1 Jan. 8, 1862 Rothert 187-4. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. This is a rare private "bank" scrip note issued and signed by W. L. Wilson; it uses a "Bank of Dixie" title in the left cartouche. Wilson signed Bank of the State, Fayetteville notes as bank president over 20 years before with little change in his hand. This $1 note was payable in Confederate notes or Arkansas war bonds. The "1" counters to the left and right of the obligation are unusually designed. PCGS notes: "Small Repaired Edge and Internal Splits and Tears." This has a well-margined appearance. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2017).
