Fort Smith, AR - E. S. Mitchell 25 Cents May 1, 1862 Rothert UNL. PCGS Very Fine 25. The Mitchell scrip notes from Fort Smith fall into at least three distinct series with additional paper and plate variants. This is from an unlisted series without a payable location at the top as observed on other notes from the issuer. Printed on brown rag paper. A pattern border is all around and the typeset text is within. "Twenty-Five Cents" is across the center, and the upper corners have bolded "25" counters. "E.S. MITCHELL" is engraved at lower right.
