Helena, AR - Lot of 2 Exchange Bank Intaglio Engraved Remainder Notes. These are attractive Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson intaglio engraved notes, but are unissued and falsely filled in. The series was not listed in the Haxby catalog. $5 "Oct. 25, 1861" Rothert 279-1. PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. Under the arced title and flanked by "V" counters, slaves are at work on a cotton plantation. Plain back. Noted with "Tape on Back" by PCGS. $10 18__ Rothert 279-2. PCGS Fine 15 Apparent. Slaves are at work on a wharf with the sidewheel steamer Arkansas in the background. At the left end, a resting hunter seems unaware of the mountain lion creeping behind him. Calhoun is at the lower right. Printed on the back are portions of Helena Insurance Company notes.
