Yellville, AR - Unknown Issuer "Received on Deposit" $1 1862 Rothert UNL. PCGS Very Fine 30. A fascinating note from the interestingly named Ozark location. An unlisted issuer in Rothert, and a mystery since the light penciling of "John Doe" in the signature block was done later. Printed on brown rag paper. At the left end is a tall vignette of a well-dressed man who is perhaps raising his glass in a toast. The vignette might be a hint that he is an inn or restaurant proprietor. There is a "Payable in Confederate Notes" clause in the center, and the note acted as a deposit certificate. This enigmatic note might be unique. Ex: Eric P.
