Connecticut - Lot of 2 Diverse Private Issued Notes. Fairfield, CT - Fairfield Loan & Trust Company 50 Cents Oct. 15, 1837 Whitman 280-00.50-G010. PCGS Very Fine 25. This is the lowest denomination from the series. A bust half obverse is at lower left, and a horse cantering is above. Farmers are at upper right. New Haven, CT - Fair Haven & Westville Railroad Co. 5 Cents Undated (Ca. 1860's). PCGS Very Fine 30 Apparent. This is a rare railroad issuer; it is rated as such in C. John Ferreri and Gary W. Potter's scholarly and comprehensive Connecticut Merchant Scrip, 1794-1876... published in Paper Money magazine in July/August 2009. Printed in all red on yellowish paper. An early horse drawn trolley is between "5" counters. Text is in the bottom center. This was a bearer note when presented in even dollars and signed by the treasurer of the railroad. The faults are seen more so from the back and are noted as "Mounting Remnants and Damage on Back; Repaired Edge Tear at Upper Right." Pleasing from the face. Ex: Eric P.
