Athens, GA - Bank of the State of Georgia, Branch Bank at Athens $20 Feb. 3, 1860 GA-330 G156a. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. The $20 denomination from this series, engraved by the American Bank Note Company and adapted from the original Danforth, Wright & Co. dies. Oval counters, in the top corners, and guilloches, below the denomination bisected by the Johnson Square vignette engraved for the issuer, are in bright vermillion. The "Minor Rust Stains at Right," noted by PCGS, are overwhelmed by the vibrant color. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2017).
