Augusta, GA - Lot of 4 Augusta Savings Bank Certificate of Deposit Dollar Denominations. A visually well-matched quartet of Civil War-dated notes with red titles and devices. $1 Dec. 9, 1861. PCGS Very Fine 25. The red border, title, and denomination stand out on this certificate of deposit. Vignettes are in cartouches. At left, a woman with a fancy hat; at top center, a traveling train. $2 Dec. 9, 1861. PCGS Very Fine 20. Similar; the border, title, and denomination are in red, and the vignettes are in cartouches. The train is now perpendicular at the left end, and ships at sail are at top center. $3 Dec. 9, 1861. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. The red elements are as previous: border, title, and denomination. Vignettes are not in cartouches. A tall Native American princess occupies the left end panel. At top center, unusual implements include a ladder and long hooks (early fire fighting gear) Grading notes: "Mounting Remnants on Back; Small Hole at Left." $4 Dec. 9, 1861. PCGS Very Fine 30. As the others in this series, the border, title, and denomination are in bright red. In the left end panel, a Native American warrior stands above FOUR.
