La Grange, GA - George Marckmann $2 1862. Remainder. PCGS Extremely Fine 45. This is an exceedingly rare La Grange scrip note, the second denomination from the Newman Collection cataloged, and not in the comprehensive Dorris collection we sold in January 2015. Printed on white bond paper, with a faint grid seen, in all blue with a red TWO protector. Like on the $1 note from the series, a standing Native American princess and crouching Ceres are at the left side, copied from Danforth, Bald & Co. notes of the late 1850s. The obligation across pays the bearer in "Confederate Notes." The $1 note realized $587.50 in Newman Part VII, October 2015. Bright, vivid and possibly unique. Ex: Eric P.
