Chicago, IL - Bank of Chicago (of Seth Paine) $1 Deposit Note Nov. 1, 1852. PCGS Very Fine 25 Apparent. These deposit notes circulated alongside demand notes of the period and used the same size and style. A beautifully engraved series by Toppan, Carpenter & Co., Cincinnati. A red protector ONE is across the bottom. Commerce is seated at top center, a quartet of cherubs is at the upper left, and a male portrait is at the bottom right. Hand signed by Seth Paine, the president of the bank. Grading notes a "Small Internal Slit at Left" and "Pinholes," but a bright note with a bold red protector. Ex: Eric P.
