Elgin, IL - Elgin Bank of D. Clark & Co. $1 Nov. 1, 1852. PCGS Very Fine 20. This is another tricky two-state issuer. It can be argued it is a Rome, New York note, but most collectors classify it with Illinois. As workers harvest hay, a farmer takes an al fresco lunch break on this Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co. imprint. Fully issued and a sharp example. Ex: Eric P.
