Elgin, IL - Elgin Bank of D. Clark & Co. $2 Sep. 28, 1852. PCGS Very Fine 20. Another two-state note tied to Rome, New York. The imprint is the same as on the previous note. The main vignette shows Agriculture in the foreground with workers loading a hay wagon in the background. Note the vertical red signature at left, which was written to make it look like a registered New York State banknote. In the end, the 1857 crisis rendered this note worthless. Ex: Eric P.
