Shawanee Town, IL - Bank of Illinois $1 Aug. 30, 1837 IL-740 G20 SENC. PCGS Very Good 10. This is extremely rare and interesting. Murray, Draper, Fairman & Co. engraved the plate for this Early Chartered Bank incorporation style, but in this case a leftover blank was issued in 1837 after the bank was reorganized. This was likely done as they awaited their new notes from Philadelphia. A simple typeset note with intricate ends. With honest wear, clear signatures, and wide margins. The first we have seen.
