Description Indiana - Lot of 2 Finely Engraved Issued Notes with Blue Security Backs. A beautiful pair of classic Indiana types from available issuers, but popular due to their superb intaglio engraving and color security backs. Connersville, IN - Savings Bank of Indiana $3 Aug. 23, 1854 IN-125 G4a, WVS 139-2. PCGS About New 50 Apparent. This $3 note is from an ornate Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Edson engraved series with deep blue backs. This a rare case of coin vignettes on both sides. The face has three cherubs and three silver dollars. The riveting blue back shows the central vignette of a Native American princess flanked by three overlapped seated dollar coins, two showing reverses. That overlapped style is observed on this type only. Noted a "Missing UR Corner Tip," just nicked off. Gosport, IN - Citizens Bank of Gosport $2 July 1, 1857 IN-200 G4a, WVS 252-2. PCGS Choice About New 58PPQ. These notes were beautifully produced by Wellstood, Hay & Whiting. A male portrait is at the center. The train across bottom center is flanked by a reclining Native American princess and History in the corners. The blue back used on all denominations has STATE OF INDIANA at center and cherubs supporting denomination counters. A choice example and well above average. Ex: Eric P.
