Ft. Leavenworth, KS - Merchants Bank $10 Aug. 21, 1854 KS-35 G8, Whitfield 135. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. The fraudulent bank never opened, and leftover notes were altered across the northeast. The highest denomination of the four issued for the series, engraved by W.L. Ormsby, uniface on bond paper. Allegorical Home Industry sits with a spinning wheel beneath the title, an arm and hammer shield is at lower left, and a perpendicular cameo-head profile of Washington is at the right.
