Smithland, KY - Southern Bank of Kentucky, Bank in Smithfield $10 May 9, 1855 KY-285 G298 SENC, Hughes 747var. PCGS Very Fine 20 Apparent. Genuine, issued notes from branch bank issuers like this are always rare. Most were redeemed by the bank. Between "10" dies, a wide vignette shows reclining Agriculture holding out an ear of corn. A female portrait is below on this Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Company layout. Pale red micro-tinting is across the face. Grading notes "Mounting Remnants on Back." Lovely from the face.
