New Orleans, LA - Bank of Commerce $2 "Six Months After the Termination of the Present War" Post Note May 5, 1862 LA-30 G48a. PCGS Fine 15. This is an interesting, indeterminate post note series engraved by the American Bank Note Co., Phila. They were printed on unusual format sheets of $1-$1-$2-$1 denominations. Unlike the $1 in the series, the prominent SIX MONTHS is not seen, only the fine print " . . . after the termination of the present war" concealed in the obligation. Several sailing ships are in the harbor at top center. The left end shows a woman with flowers, and the right end has seated Commerce. This appears to be signed, but normally this is seen unissued only. Ex: Eric P. Newman Numismatic Education Society, Heritage Auctions Internet Sale (5/2017).
