New Orleans, LA - D. J. Hockersmith & Co., Redeemable at the Southern Mills $1 Undated (Ca. 1862). PCGS Fine 12. Another interesting New Orleans scrip; payable at 181 & 183 Poydras Street. It appears to be issued after Union occupation and was payable "in current funds." Printed on white paper without imprint. Slaves work the field at top center. America, wearing a stars and stripes skirt. floats above the globe at left. Commerce sits at the lower right. With a red ONE. The mixture of vignette styles makes this rather striking. Ex: Eric P.
