Description | William III Halfpenny (1695-1701). The Tudor Rose was a heraldic badge of Protestant King William IIIs House of Stuart. Its presence on this coin is likely a show of support for his victory over Catholic King James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. The coin was dug by the seller, a metal detectorist, in the spring of 2017 at Kings Worthy, Hampshire. Purchased from Mark Duell / Southampton, Hampshire, UK. (My. 30, 2017) ($6). |
