Apparently, PDV stands for Protestant Defence Volunteers. Though uncertain, it may be another name used to describe the Protestant Defence Force (PDF). The only other PDV stamps I've seen were on UKN Eire Shilling and a 1969 Eire 10p ( Fitzwilliam Museum Collection). Both also included UVF stamps, as this one does. This suggests a connection between the two organizations. The word ?EIRE? is defaced by 4 X-shaped punches. The coin was discovered by the seller in a large job lot. Purchased from Margaret Kowenicka
