"Irish Peoples Liberation Organisation." As told to me by the seller. On 15 July, 1990, his uncle William was shot to death by two IPLO gunmen who entered his home on Tates Ave., Belfast. He was asleep on the sofa at the time. Apparently, he was killed because of his alleged affiliation with the UVF. Later that day, UFF volunteers shot a Catholic man to death in the driveway at his home in Lisburn in retaliation. A second tragedy befell the family earlier in July, 1977. IRA gunmen shot and killed another uncle, a Corporal in D Co., 10th City of Belfast Battalion of the UDR. He was off duty and was shot at his home on Woodvale Rd. in West Belfast when he answered a knock at the front door. His account of both events were corroborated by contemporary news accounts. Purchased Sp. 5, 2018 ($4). |
