The seller found this in a tin of coins he'd bought at a car boot sale in Co. Kerry many years ago. In recent months he's been sorting through hundreds of coins acquired back then, and occasionally comes across these political issues. According to him, the number 1 in 81 stamped upside down was likely not a mistake, but deliberately done as a protest against Margaret Thatcher's government.
