Description |
Circular rubber stamp in red ink struck in the upper right corner on the reverse of a Bank of Scotland 1-Pound banknote. The note's condition is very good but has three minor folds and a distracting brown spot (adhesive?) on the reverse in the ship's sails.
-Bank of Scotland 1-Pound note / S/N A/A 3312772 / Governor Steven Bilsland / dated 1 December, 1959. This series was issued from 1955 until 1967 and withdrawn in 1968. I've seen only one other example, and that stamped on the reverse of a Great Britain Bank of England 10 Shillings note. It was offered in a Heritage Auctions lot in August, 2014.
The seller acquired this example from a shop in Lincolnshire about ten years ago. Purchased from Paul Lianoa, Boston, Lincolnshire, UK. (January, 19, 2023) ($14). |
