1855 1C Upright 55, N-4, R.1, MS66 Brown NGC. Our EAC Grade MS60. An exceptional Premium Gem, this Upright 55 cent exhibits delicate blue and green overtones on its medium olive-brown surfaces, showing traces of mint red on the reverse. Variety: Two tiny die lumps on Liberty's jaw identify this plentiful variety. Grellman Die State a with the reverse uncracked, the usual state for the variety. Population Data (3/15): For all Upright 55 varieties within the Brown designation, NGC reports only seven submissions in MS66 Brown and none finer. Heritage Commentary: This plentiful variety is seen about as often as all other 1855 varieties combined. It is an ideal candidate for a type collection. The Walter H. Childs Collection is well-known for containing the finest known 1804 Original silver dollar, PR68 PCGS. Provenance: Walter H.
